Why Real Estate Websites Fail to Win Traffic and What You Can Do About It
It’s currently estimated that as many as 80% of home buyers begin their search for a home on the internet, prior to ever picking up a phone to call a Realtor. Yet according to the National Association of Realtors, few Realtors realize significant, if any, search traffic from their personal websites.
Many web platforms sold today offer websites with content management systems (CMS) that provide the capacity to structure and optimize their site’s content. However, obtaining good search traffic requires that the Realtor is proficient in search engine optimization (SEO) skills. It comes as no surprise then that most websites still fail to gain high enough search engine rankings to attract web visitors.
The greatest failure of today’s website vendors is that they almost exclusively focus on customer and Realtor-related enhancement features. At the same time, they virtually ignore the development of more sophisticated content management systems that are guided by algorithm “intelligence”. They do not proactively optimize a website to win search traffic. Granted, it is important for your website to have Realtor and customer organization tools and attractive branding, but it is of little value if your website doesn’t have the capacity to drive search engine traffic to your site.
